Registers are not available in Cygwin

I experience the problem with gdb20010501 under Cygwin. My target is MPC860 
board.
(I had several problems while compiling, such as undefined _WIN32, that I 
solved manually).
Please, look at the following:

(gdb) target ocd wiggler lpt1
Remote target wiggler connected to wiggler lpt1
[Wiggler version b.20, capability 0x1d]
0x000011fc in ?? ()

(gdb) set architecture powerpc:MPC8XX
The target architecture is assumed to be powerpc:MPC8XX

(gdb) set $immr=0xffa00000
Error: read_bdm_registers: Invalid CPU register access attempt failed

I shall be very thankful for any help!!
