This bug is compiler dependent.
I see the bug happening with:
native i686-pc-linux-gnu, red hat 8.0
gdb 6.2, gcc 3.2-7-rh, binutils 2.15
The bug does not happen with:
native i686-pc-linux-gnu, red hat 8.0
gdb 6.2, gcc 3.3.4, binutils 2.15
native i686-pc-linux-gnu, red hat 8.0
gdb 6.2, gcc 3.4.1, binutils 2.15
native i686-pc-linux-gnu, red hat 8.0
gdb 6.2, gcc HEAD 20040824, binutils 2.15
Can you try upgrading your gcc and let us know if the new gcc works.
(Heck, you've probably already ugpraded your gcc in the 9 months
since this bug was filed).
