Hi John,

I am planning to refresh patches 3 and 4 and send a v2 soon.

Just to get an idea, what is your opinion about this change? Thumbs down, sideways or up? It's a patch that makes things marginally better, but that has a big potential of conflicts for those who carry patches (i.e. you), so I'd like to know what you think.
