So it is looks to me like Mutt; if you sort by threads and if you do not
process the ping reply mail on your first run of mailer then the mail is
marked as 'old'.  For the next mailer run and one can no longer easily find
the ping mail between all the weeks+months old unread mails (unless you read
very every mail).

This was the reason why were proposed the no-reply ping mails.

Apparently you both do not find it as such an advantage.

I did not get what should the submitters do if even pings do not work.
