I personally think this part of Misrosoft's strategy is a pain...

I'm glad this is being worked on!  (I already saw the "winnt"
preliminary configuration for GCC 2.6.1)

Much different estimate here!  Are you/others already planning this?

That's the impression I received as well from the docs I've read.

The object and library formats being straight COFF certainly
will simplify things.
