Redboot was designed to be used without the kernel. So if you can i
suggest you don't use it. What do you actually need from the kernel? A
driver should not be using the KAPI, rather it should be using the
driver API. This always exists. You can use interrupts, ISR, DSR etc
with the driver API without the kernel.
