- Subject: [ECOS] ppp the die-hard FAQ
- Organization:
Searching through the archives, this seems to be one of those Frequently
Asked Questions, mostly because people don't like the Frequently Given
Answers!
>From what I can gather...
1) There is no port of ppp/slip/cslip in eCos.
2) There is a port of lwip to eCos which has an experimental port of
ppp.
3) Someone has ported ppp to eCos, but is prevented by vampire bean
counters from releasing the port.
Question 0: Is this summary correct?
Question 1: Is grafting lwip onto eCos really the easiest / best way of
getting ppp on eCos? (Especially since eCos has a "native" tcp/ip
stack.)
Q1.1: Is lwip better or worse by any metric than the native eCos ip
stack?
Question 2: How hard would it be to port pppd to eCos?

Let's keep this in perspective.
On the edge of a certain Galaxy, one of many billions of Galaxies, is a
small yellow star. One of the many billions stars in that Galaxy.
Around that star orbits a planet. On the surface of that planet is a very very
thin scum of carbon based life forms. A very very small fraction of that
biomass regards themselves as autonomous intelligent beings.
And most of those would rather be watching television.
