Re: Purpose of the moreinfo attribute: is it required?

Jirka:

Thanks very much! Setting sgml-shorttag to t worked out just right, although I had to type it in in the local variables at the end of the document. Trying to select the option from the menu using my mouse, I got this error:

Symbol's function definition is void: sgml-do-set-option

I'll take that to gnu.emacs.help and the PSGML list.

Thanks again for your help!

Mike

It is used to specify additional information about purpose of element.

No.

PSGML inserts it automaticaly, because this attribute has default value
in DTD. You can switch-off this behaviour by setting sgml-shorttag to t.
This setting can be invoked from menu SGML -> File Options -> SHORTAG.
Then you can save current settings at the end of file by selecting SGML
-> File Options -> Save options. You can not easily set this option for
all Emacs buffers in .emacs file, because this option is automaticaly
set for each buffer when loading xml-mode.
