Why not using jadetex and pdfjadetex? With jadetex PostScript can be
generated and with pdfjadetex PDF can be generated directly. PDFs are a
little bit harder to generate, and with pdfjadetex it is not possible to
make a document with more then 780 pages. This is true at least with the
PHP documentation. With print stylesheets it is now over 1000 pages.

For the PHP documentation we use Norm's DSSSL.
