Re: Jade problem with stylesheets

Dear Derek,

I have looked closely at your message, and it presents certain
features of interest (forgive the weird expression: I've been
re-reading some Sherlock Holems, and I can't resist saying "features
of interest").

First of all, it's ocol that you are running on an AMD system. May I
guess that you installed the jade package from SRPM, and the others
from the noarch RPMs?

I think that a bit of clarification might be all that is needed to
solve your immediate needs, although I also think you point out a
serious inconvenience (bug?) in the way the packages install stuff.

If you are only ever interested in processing DocBook files, you
should stick to running the "db2*" scripts, and not worry about
running jade on them directly.

It is weird that running "jade demo.sgm" stops working; I suspect some
monkey business with the catalog file. It looks like jade is using
the DocBook DTD on demo.sgm, and demo.sgm is not at all a DocBook
file. I will take a long hard penetrating look at CATALOG file issues
eventually, and if you tell me that you *absolutely* have to process
the demo.sgm file directly, I will do it sooner. So far I have shown
that I get the same problem you get.

Derek> I get similar results when I try to convert my DocBook
    Derek> file into HTML.

Can you tell me which command you use? If you are using "db2html
myfile.sgml", then I will be very surprised.

If you use "jade myfile.sgml", then I am not surprised.

Let me know which command it is, and whether "db2html myfile.sgml"
works, and we'll take it from there.
