some things were discussed, unfortunately nothing (I could find) that 
solved the relevant problems.

well, thank you for that, these docbook tools are SO bad documented...
but, unfortunately, also this workaround does not solve all problems. 
e.g. index is now existing, also sub-content lists, but tables are again 
ignored. and a document without tables is unfortunately useless.

didnīt you recoginze this?

well, I use apache ant for this purpose. it is nearly perfect for this 
kind of tasks, as you can do so much things with it including making 
zipfiles of the results after all...
