I can't seem to find a Basque localization file here, but using the German
(de) one as an example:
It currently reads
[...]
(define (de-xref-strings)
(list (list (normalize "appendix") (if %chapter-autolabel%
"&Appendix; %n"
"&Appendix; namens %t"))
(list (normalize "article") (string-append %gentext-de-start-quote%
"%t"
%gentext-de-end-quote%))
(list (normalize "bibliography") "%t")
(list (normalize "book") "%t")
(list (normalize "chapter") (if %chapter-autolabel%
"&Chapter; %n"
"&Chapter; namens %t"))
[...]
&Chapter is "Kapitel".
This would currently come out as "Kapitel 5". Now change it to
(list (normalize "chapter") (if %chapter-autolabel%
"%n. &Chapter;"
"&Chapter; namens %t"))
it would be "5. Kapitel".
This affects the entire formatting, not only the bookmarks.
