In my experience, Git clones made using one build of Git are fully
compatable with another build -- the repository format does not change.
This certainly applies between Cygwin's Git and RHEL's Git.
The only exception I'm aware of is that git-svn cannot cope with changes
in word size (ie 32-bit vs 64-bit).
