hardware upgrade status

As you can see, email seems to be working on the new system.

The old sourceware was a hodge podge of hand-built files installed in
nonstandard locations. I changed that on the new sourceware. It now
uses semi-official rpms for most of everything. I spent most of the day
yesterday chasing down places which used the old locations. Since a lot
of this software was newer, there were some gotchas there too.

You probably saw an increased amount of spam coming through and, very
annoyingly, there is now spam in the -cvs lists - but I didn't do that!
But spam should be dropping now. For a while virus scanning wasn't
working either but that's now solved.

The 'upset' process seems to finally have settled down and is scanning
the cygwin release area. That required the installation of several
packages and some of that modify-for-later-software action.

The mirror scanning is also apparently working without any effort on
my part.

There is currently a problem with SVN sending notification emails that I
will be tracking down but that doesn't specifically impact anyone here.

Web services are next. I'm only helping on that one though. We should
have them available in a few hours though.

Anyway, I worked more than 12 hours on this yesterday and expect to work
a fair number of hours on this today. So your tax dollars are hard at
work here.

Problem reports concerning sourceware/cygwin should go to the overseers
mailing list at this site. However, unless you are absolutely certain
that there is a problem which is not just a round tuit you should
probably hold off reporting problems as the system stabilizes.

P.S. One of the overseers got a phone call on his cell phone asking him
to make setup.exe available. Please don't do that. It embarasses me in
front of the rest of the people administering the system. :-)
