Actually, using Cygwin 1.7 isn't a fix for this, it's just a
workaround if you happen to leave your locale set to 1.7's default
of UTF-8.  Grep 2.5.4 still exhibits the root problem if your locale
is set to C.  The patch referred to doesn't seem to address that
problem.  I don't think upgrading the grep package for 1.5 would fix
the problem.
