If you have an X server running and the DISPLAY environment variable set appropriately, emacs-X11 will use X11. Try this: Start the X server and then type 'emacs&' in an xterm window. This should cause emacs to open in a new window, using X11.


The startemacs.bat that I sent you earlier in the thread achieves the same effect (as long as the X server is running).
