RE: Pesky -mno-cygwin problem

While we're talking about -mno-cygwin... This is something I noticed a
while ago -- I'm using b20.1 and egcs-2.91.66 -- notice that the following
code doesn't compile with -mno-cygwin:

// test.cpp
#include <string>

int main()
	{
	std::string s;
	return 0;
	}

gcc -c -g -mno-cygwin test.cpp

                 from test.cpp:1:

Subject: Pesky -mno-cygwin problem

  I'm trying to compile a C++ program with the latest version of Cygwin that

isn't dependent on the cygwin dynamic link library (cygwin1.dll). When I try

it the compiler outputs a ton of things on the screen and the program
doesn't get compiled that way. Any suggestions for a beginning programmer on

the problem?
