For addition to the FAQ: after installing server-side fonts, the server
must be restarted for them to be available.

Perhaps the postinstall scripts need to do "xset -display :0.0 fp rehash"?

(although even if this works, it won't do any good in scenarios where X servers other than :0 are running)
