With KDE
KeyPress event, serial 27, synthetic NO, window 0x200001,
root 0x36, subw 0x0, time 106982015, (61,104), root:(65,127),
state 0x4, keycode 50 (keysym 0xffe1, Shift_L), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 characters: ""
Without KDE
KeyPress event, serial 21, synthetic NO, window 0x200001,
root 0x36, subw 0x0, time 106512875, (18,118), root:(20,120),
state 0x4, keycode 50 (keysym 0xfe0a, ISO_Prev_Group), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 characters: ""
This means KDE does reset the ISO_Prev_Group keycode.
With KDE you can select the keyboard layout from the control center.
Please try the russian layouts there if they work. If not, you can
also try resetting the keymap to the one the server used from the config
file via setxkbmap.
