So you need to add the libraries that contain _XA_CLIPBOARD and
XmuInternAtom.  To find these I use the nm tool, like this

 $ cd /usr/X11R6/lib
 $ nm -A lib*.a | grep CLIPBOARD
 libXmu.a:Atoms.o:00000038 G _XA_CLIPBOARD
 libXmu.a:Atoms.o:00000030 g __XA_CLIPBOARD
 $ 

Which tells me that you need to add -lXmu to the list of X11
libraries.

Read the man page for nm to find what the output of the tool means in
detail.
