i have yet to try to compile gtk+2.0 on my cygwin install.  you might be
missing libs/includes.

please post the errors as well. (ie, the last compiler output line that
includes the beginning of the line "g++" or "gcc" ,etc

yes. i have blackbox compiled on my cgywin install and and it compiled
nicely. you can find blackbox on www.sf.net

also, a guy has a website up with a detailed journal/log of his install
of allot of gnome related packages.

do a search on www.google.com

cygwin > gnome

i don't have the link here at hand, but the site contains about 20-30
packages that he attempted to compile & install.
(as i send this copy to the list, i see that somebody has provided you
with the url. keep that url handy...it's a great site!)
