Thank you for this and the others. By doing that
[adding SHELL=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM /E:4096 /P to my CONFIG.SYS]
and by adding C:\cygwin\bin to my DOS PATH in autoexec.bat I have
reduced the errors to:
Too many parameters
startxwin.bat - Starting on Windows 95/98/Me
/USR/X11R6/BIN/XSETROOT: unable to open display '127.0.0.1:0.0'
So have you, or anyone, any further advice?
