I assume you mean 'No' to both questions.
I guess part of the problem is that when I last used unix, I would leave
this sort of thing to the sys-admin, and I never had to deal with shell
scripts. I have been meaning to look into the latter (something I should be
able to manage if I can find a good book or ebook, since I have been writing
programs in languages like fortran and C++ for close to twenty years - I
just never needed shell scripts before).
