Suhaib and I have worked for the past four or five days to setup
Cygwin/XFree86 to be packaged with the XFree86 build-bindist scripts and to
install with the XFree86 Xinstall.sh script. Using these scripts makes the
release packaging process much easier and keeps the archive names
consistent. The installation script creates symlinks that were previously
missing or broken, and it provides the user with several yes/no options and
lots of descriptive text. Furthermore, releasing and installing with these
scripts keeps the Cygwin/XFree86 installation process consistent with the
XFree86 installation process on other platforms.
I have updated the Cygwin/XFree86 User's Guide to reflect the new archive
names and the new installation process.
Suhaib has uploaded the archives to the Cygwin/XFree86 mirror network and at
least one mirror has gotten the latest archives.
We hope that you appreciate the new installation process, and we hope that
you can work with us to iron out any remaining kinks in this new packaging
and installation process.
