No server does not recognize Windows fonts.
You need X-fonts.
expect at least 50-60 MB for a minimal install.
Please check Harold installation instructions. You will find a link at
the main URL of Cygwin/XFree86.

right after i posted, i subscribed, since it really didnt make sense not to
be since this list discusses something which i am in fact very interested
in.
but about my question, about how much space, at minimum am i going to be
using?
i *know* there is no need for 9 megs of fonts, and about that, does the
server recognize standard windows fonts? (i assume it understands
postscript fonts, though.)
i figure the server should be about 2->3 megs, the necessary fonts might
take 1->1.5 megs nad rxvt mght take anywhere from 500->1500kB.
