Bugfix release 1.5.25

Hi guys,

since the conversion to long path names and all that will take much
longer than anticipated, I've prepared a bugfix release 1.5.25 to ease
the pain between releases.

Lots of bugs have been found in the meantime, in Cygwin as well as in
newlib. The list of bugfixes is rather long, see

  http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-cvs/2007-q4/msg00026.html
  http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-cvs/2007-q4/msg00027.html
  http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-cvs/2007-q2/msg00066.html
  http://sourceware.org/ml/newlib-cvs/2007-q4/msg00019.html
  http://sourceware.org/ml/newlib-cvs/2007-q4/msg00020.html

I'm not sure at all how to summarize that into a single announcement...

I built the branch twice, one cross-build, one native build and I ran
the testsuite successfully with only the expected FAILs, so I know it
works, basically.

Here's my request: Most of you should be capable of building a DLL from
the branch. I'd like to ask everybody to check out the cr-0x5f1 branch,
to build the Cygwin DLL and the utils, and to give them a test for a
couple of days. Please look for regressions from 1.5.24.

If anybody thinks there's some bugfix missing, feel free to mention it.

One thing I'm especially interested in: I applied most of the newlib
changes from Eric. Eric, would you be so kind to have a look if I
didn't miss anything? Note that I deliberately didn't export new
functions. I didn't apply your fopencookie/funopen functions and none
of the asnprintf functions.

However, I couldn't resist to let the new j, t, and z modifiers
(implemented by Brian) slip in ;) In theory, that should be the only
really "new" functionality. Well...

I'm going to use this DLL myself for the next couple of days. If
nothing serious crops up, I plan to release 1.5.25 next week or the
week after.

Thanks in advance,
Corinna

P.S: Does anybody think that it would be a good thing to have an
official 1.5.25-1 test release, downloadable by setup.exe? I have
the package prepared, but since I'm not available from Saturday to
Tuesday, I'm rather shying away from this until I'm back next week.
