I could be wrong but I doubt that Dave intended his heads up to be the
start of a new gcc wishlist discussion.
However, it would be pretty unusual for something like weak symbols to
be supported only on MinGW and not in Cygwin. MinGW and Cygwin share
the same code base for both binutils and gcc.
