OK, that's not really what I meant...

  d) introduce the /generic/ companion-libs build script
  d-bis) add the new companion libraries
  e) add the DARWIN symbol
     - propagate the dependency to components
  f) add Darwin as a new kernel
     - depends on EXPERIMENTAL
     - add cctools as alternate binutils
     - add other dependable components
  g) you get the idea...
