Why, it's been *days* since gcc-4.1.0 was released.
Time to update crosstool to match.
I also improved the mac doc:

to explicitly mention the 'as' and 'ld' issues, and give a workaround
that doesn't require patching.
Now maybe we can settle down and actually use the
new compiler instead of playing catchup.
But keep the patches coming, I'll probably do another release
sometime this month.
