... and the idea sounds pretty ugly, what with the libraries and headers and whatnot that you need.


Crosstool will run fine (I tested early versions anyway) on Solaris if you supplement with the necessary GNU tools first. Build the cross toolchain on Solaris, don't even think about doing a Cygwin-hosted Canadian cross to Solaris [any] host. Ugh. :)

More to the point, the best improvement to Cygwin is a Linux LiveCD or Debian install disk. :)
