I don't know if it can help you, but I got a playstation2 linux system at
home.
It's got 32MB RAM, ethernet and already linux 2.2.1 (or 2.2.21 if I use the
Rhino kernel) loaded & running.

The CPU in the PS2 is sort of a strange one (128bit registers build on a
64bit core or something like that), but I think it can run all the MIPS1 ISA
so it might do ok for your tests.
