PowerPC G4 AltiVec support for gcc?

I've done some net searching, without any luck.

Does anyone know of a project to add PPC AltiVec support to gcc, and where
may I find them?

I'm not even concerned with "automatic" AltiVec generation -- I'd be happy
with inline assembly (or the AltiVec PIM).

It seems my only options for the time being are CodeWarrior and MPW on MacOS.
