 FWIW, the MIPS port will need that too WRT the FP ABI eventually, for 
"don't care" vs "old object" disambiguation.  It'll help avoiding NaN 
interlinking issues where FP hasn't been used in the first place.  If 
anyone bothers getting at it, that is, of course.
