AIX XCOFF64

I noticed in the latest release of binutils (version 2.11.2), ld and gprof
and not supported on AIX 4.3.3 Specifically, I got the following message
when running the configure script:
*** This configuration is not supported in the following subdirectories:
gprof ld
(Any other directories should still work fine.)
I have searched the archives and the web site, but I cannot determine
which, if any version of ld supports XCOFF64 under AIX. If not, is there
another object format available which allows 64 bit PPC under AIX? Our
development environment is rather constrained and this would be a godsend!
