I'd like to remove the dependency on libgcc.a from the kernel.  Several
other ports have done it already due to "not knowing" what is in that
library.

I think its a very good idea too, so this is another reason to get rid
of it.

(I don't really understand why the GCC people don't build a soft-float and
non-soft-float version of libgcc.a.  I know Phil is trying to kill non-soft
float completely, but there _are_ people who want to use hard float on
processors that support it, and we _aren't_ going to do a Microsoft and
dictate that you can't use it, are we?)
