New Website for Insight

Steven Johnson reports:

After a steep learning curve, a new Website for Insight has been created. The main purpose of the update is to allow things like NEWS and FAQs to be easily maintained. (at least easier than they are now). Also certain parts of the format, like the main menu bar across the top are now generated via a PHP script, and so retain a high degree of uniformity and allows easier creation of new pages.

New Snapshots for Insight

Keith Seitz reports:

The sourceware gods have given us a place to put stuff: pub/insight. We can do whatever we want with it.

I'll start the whole thing off by doing a snapshot. Probably won't be doing diffs or anything like that to start with, but at least a snapshot every Monday.

For the most part, I guess I'll follow the gdb snapshot conventions. I've put a weekly snapshot based this morning's sources in

Unfortunately, they don't build because of a build problem in BFD.

So, what does this mean for you? If you're a cygwin user, it's great news! This import, which differs only in some small configury changes from the "standard" Tcl/Tk 8.4.1, fixes all known outstanding Cygwin problems. You can once again build Insight from CVS. Much thanks to Martin Hunt and Red Hat for this contribution.

Instructions for building on Cygwin Updated

Thanks to the recent import of Tcl/Tk 8.4.1, cygwin appears to be working and stable. There's a special procedure for building a stable version of Insight. Read all about it. If you are a cygwin user, please download/checkout and use the CVS version and help us find any remaining outstanding cygwin problems.
