Created attachment 6334 [details] Potential patch from Chandan Kumar glibc doesn't support the Magahi locale. About 13 million people speak this language in india and highly used in the local areas of india. More can be find at .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magahi_language
Please contact Chandan Kumar WRT this locale. chandankumar.093047@gmail.com
You can get more information regarding magahi on the following websites: http://magahi-sahitya.blogspot.in/ http://magahimanbhavan.blogspot.in/ We need the creation of locale for magahi language. It is necessary.
Your locale does not compile for me, it fails right at the beginning: <stdin>:38: LC_CTYPE: field `outdigit' declared more than once <stdin>:38: LC_CTYPE: syntax error <stdin>:42: duplicated definition for mapping `to_inpunct' circular dependencies between locale definitions You perhaps meant to leave just the copy command in that section? Your locale file contains raw literals instead of <U>-encoded characters. There is currently a discussion about allowing this on the mailing list, but it did not reach a definitive conclusion yet.
Created attachment 6346 [details] Magahi language locale for India While working on this i found most of the part was same as hi_IN locale, so just copied hi_IN which is more preferred way. Dunno why name_miss "" name_ms "" are blank, might be we can write something there as well. Chandan can you check it again.
Pravin Thank you for converting it into Unicode. Please update the following file by adding following things there: name_miss "सुश्री" name_ms "सुश्री" please convert it into Unicode and update the file.
Created attachment 6347 [details] Magahi language locale for India Updated the strings for miss and ms.
pravin! Thanks for updating.
There is nothing critical about this bug, please do not bump the importance just like that. It looks fine to me, I'll run it through the mailing list and then commit.
in reply to Petr Baudis Please tell me the mailing list of glibc. I want to join.
When this locale will be added to the glibc? We have a need of it to bring the translation of this language for new release of other operating Systems. Please add it.
I'm sorry for the delay. I'm not sure if GNU Copyright Assignment is required for contribution of new locale. I asked on the mailing list but got no feedback yet, I will ask again on legal@gnu.org and let you know when I have a reply, or you can proactively start sending the assignment anyway now in case it is required.
i need the mailing list where it is discussed. please give me the link.
I believe a simple Google query would have answered your question. Nevertheless, see http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-locales/2012-q2/
i am not getting any progress in the above bug. Will it need more information?
No need. Recently, we got information that no copyright assignment is needed. I plan to revisit this bug and apply the locale in few days.
Committed, thanks for your contribution!
